Development Status Update #1 - Getting Started!

Hello! Welcome to my first development status update on the progress of Johnny's Basic Survival Game, which is my first game currently being developed in unity! In this post, I will talk about some things I have added after getting started with the game only yesterday!

First off, I have added the first animal! Not only that, but I have also added some basic AI for it, which means that it will walk around, stop, then start walking another direction! You can see this demonstrated in the first video I have attached to this. Now that I have a basic AI system for animals that works pretty well at the moment, when I start to add more animals, I can use the same AI script for the new ones and they should work also!

Next, I have also been working on items (which at the moment are those placeholder white rectangle things), I've got it working so when you pick them up it adds it to your inventory (which is the image of the item) and then removes the item from the world so you can't pick it up again after picking it up once. Also, I've got it working so when you use the item in your inventory by clicking on it, it makes your thirst go down! (I haven't added the same thing for hunger yet, but it shouldn't be that hard. You can see it demonstrated in the 2nd video attached)

Lastly,  I wanted to briefly mention some upcoming stuff about the world. If you couldn't tell, at the moment it is not that big, and doesn't have features like trees, mountains, rivers, etc. As I work on the game, I will try and add those things to improve the world and make it better! Also I plan on making the world a lot bigger, and add a day/night cycle (which I will hopefully do soon).

One more thing, you are probably wondering, "when is there going to be the first playable version that I can try out?". My answer to that is soon hopefully. If development continues to go good like it is so far, I may be able to get the first pre-alpha version out in a week or so. Just keep in mind that when it does come out, it will be  anything but far from finished...
